How Would You Set This Up?
Have you ever been to a website called BlogIt.com?
BlogIt.com uses a very interesting business model in order to make money. The owners of the BlogIt.com website somehow manages to get people to pay them $10 a month the read the blog posts of the writers that sign up to produce content on the site.
And guess what else?
The website that BlogIt.com is hosted on is an ugly mess.
The site looks like a generic form of Blogger.com. The site is not pretty at all. The site doesn’t use beautiful custom design but the site is making a hell of money, in fact the Blogit.com website has been up and running for several years.
And I admire them for figuring out a way to earn a monthly income by selling subscriptions to web surfers that want to read the blogs of other folk.
That goes to show you, the information that you produce as blogger can be packaged and sold if you know how to do it.
Now the question you should be thinking is how? How can sites like this manage to make monthly income by selling access to read regular content that can be read on websites like Squidoo?
The same way that the owners of Blog it sold the ideas of its site is the same way you must sell the ideas of your website, you got to convey in someway that what you are doing with your content will be providing some kind so unique service to a target group of people.
That is what the Blog It website owners did.
So let me give you a little tip on how to identify a target audience with your blogs topic. You got to characterize your own ideals about your blogs topic and then create a stereotypical label for these groups and then identify personal characteristics of these groups that needs to be improved with knowledge.
I will give you more details on how to identify a target audience in another post but for now I would like you to brainstorm on a social character that can benefit from your information to see what you come up with.
